Sovereign Gambit is run by [operator name] (“we”). This page explains what we store about you and why. Questions or requests: 3mpetri@gmail.com.
What we store
- Your account: email address, display name, password (stored only as a hash), and whether you want game emails. If you sign in with Google, we get your name and email from Google.
- Optional: the Chess.com username you link in your profile.
- What you do here: leagues, teams, rosters, draft picks and duels you create.
- Technical: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
Chess.com data
Scores come from Chess.com's public API: public profiles, ratings and game archives of the players picked in leagues, duels and the Nations Cup. We store copies of that public data to score games. Players don't need an account here and aren't contacted.
Why (legal basis)
- To run the game you signed up for (performance of a contract).
- Game emails (draft, lock reminders, results) because you asked for them; turn them off in your profile at any time.
- Logs and rate limits to keep the site secure (legitimate interest).
Who processes it
- Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH, servers in the EU.
- Email delivery: our email provider, only to send the emails above.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking cookies. No cookie banner is needed because the only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.
Your rights
You can see and change your details in your profile, and delete your account there at any time: your email and account are deleted, and your teams stay in their leagues as bots. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it, and you can complain to your data protection authority (in Croatia: AZOP).
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on the site before it takes effect.
